Sitting in the airport at 3.30 AM

So here I am sitting at the airport in Houston. It is 3.30 am, and I opened my laptop and found a wireless connection. So to pass the time I thought I would post a new message.

Of course I don't have anything interesting, but I will take a shot. Getting ready to head down to Grand Junction for 3 weeks. November 5 - 9 Joe, Steve, and I will be headed to Las Vegas for fun and fury!

It is going to be a long day. I have been up since 7.30 Saturday morning (it is early Sunday morning now). I think I am getting a bit delirious.

Thinking about sleeping, but I need to check my luggage and then get to the terminal. Maybe then I can close my eyes for a bit. The good news is, I will sleep easy on the plane.

Hope to have some new pictures up. Maybe have some Colorado photos.

Also, as this note has no significant direction, I spent part of the day shooting pistols. That was fun. My favorite was the .45 cal. But there were some nice 9mm pistols as well. Also, there was a fun little .22 that I liked. I must've gone through 100 rounds.

Well, I made plans to travel back home to Grand Junction Colorado on October 23rd. I will be there 3 weeks. I will probably just eat and get fat with all that home cooking. And of course, everyone I know will be working. I am the only one on permanent vacation.

Tentative date to go to China is November 20th. Been getting my personal effects in order. Thank goodness everything I own will fit in an Altoids can.

Miata is sold. Gonna miss it, but it will stay in the Houston Miata Club family, as I sold it to a club member. 90% of my clothes, my TV, and any other stuff I can move, has or will go to the donations people.

Maybe someone knows someone in Grand Junction who can help me practice my Mandarin (Chinese, not oranges).

Dad and I moved a bunch of stuff out of the house into a storage unit today. This house has been sold, and Dad's new house won't be ready until November sometime. So, I have decided to go back to Colorado for a week or two.

That's about it. Life is kind of like that movie Groundhog Day. I keep waking up and everything is the same. hahaha. But, we haven't had a hurricane in almost 3 weeks now. So there is an upside to everything.

Steve Cruse's Web Site

My friend Steve is a professional artist. As such, he is a lousy marketer ;-). Steve and I talked, and we decided an excellent way for him to show off his art would be to use the internet. To the left is one of his mural projects.

Well, since I have an excellent web host (makeitcomplete.com), I suggested to Steve that he let me help him design a website. I got together with my web host, Jay Jackson, and we have a new website on the internet! Steve's site is www.floydgazistudios.com. Floyd Gazi is a European man with an eye for good art. He has funded many of Steve's creations, many of which are in the Louvre in Paris.

Not really, but I thought I'd give the kid some publicity.

October 4, 2005

Today is October 4th. Or 10-4. I once emailed someone about an appointment. We set a time for 9am. I replied "10-4" like trucker talk, and my contact replies back, "I said 9!". I think that is funny.

Anyways, still waiting to leave for Beijing. No update yet, but that is ok. I have 2 classes left and if I hang until December, I won't have to worry about classes in Beijing. I have also started Mandarin Courses. I have my tapes and dictionary from a very thoughtfull lady at my former employer, Briggs Equipment. Mary wanted to be sure wa shua Po-Tong-Qua (speak Mandarin).

Getting ready to sell the Miata. Fortunately, Dad has an extra set of wheels right now, so I can drive that.
